The story of São Martinho tells of a Roman soldier who shared his cloak on a winter's day upon meeting a cold beggar. In doing so, the weather unexpectedly warmed up.
This tradition inspires the Magusto celebration (traditional from Portugal), where friends and family gather to roast chestnuts and enjoy good wine together.
